a shoestring journey in pictures and words

Someday's here

The name's Garrett.  I'm an American, and I took a Pacific Rim journey six years ago.  In the cramped scrawlings on the last pages of that journal, I included a promise to go vagabonding again.

Check.

It's now 2009, and I'm intentionally jobless.  My fiancée and I left Oregon just as November set in, escaping to the sunny side of the Tropic of Cancer.  We expect that we'll be back next year, but the trip is still young.

The whirlwind that prefaced our departure left little time to set an itinerary, much less a finely-tuned scheme for online reflections.  But this site is a slate for my future chalkings, in whatever form, frequency, or length they take.

Loquaciousness hasn't set in, in part due to the logistical questions raised by an impact with a kayak that may have fractured the forearm attached to my writing hand.  (No worries, though.  Thailand's now on the docket, where I've just been quoted $15 for an x-ray.)

So I'll practice brevity for now.  It's good to be on an international vector again.
